The Bridge to the Stanley cup finals , nothing but a blurr

Well here we are again on the wrong side of victory, that bridge to the cup has never been clear to the Senators. The loss last night is disappointing, but what makes it worse is the way we lose. We lack Desire, we show glimpses of it, a flash here a flash there, coming from one player or another, but never as a united force that sustains for a whole game or series. And I don't mean desire that got you through Junior and to the NHL, I mean a desire that burns so bright that you cant look directly at it. Ottawa, as a team has never had that, they don't know what it takes to win a cup, sacrifice, endurance and the ability to take your skill and effort to a level higher than previously thought possible. The game you played all season is no longer good enough, get better or get out. Bench yourself if you aren't willing to be 10 times the player, and that goes for everyone, yes even the regular season superstars. I find myself wishing something that makes me sick, it turns my stomach, but here goes, I wish Ottawa showed the desire that the Leafs show every year ...the leafs show more desire in one regular season game than we've showed in any playoff. Frankly its embarrassing, and that's what makes this so hard. So we spend the summer hoping some way somehow that somebody can teach the Sens the sacrifice and desire that's required to get the job done.

yeah...i think the final goal said it all...the guy deeked out alfie...then emery....

it was a simple and fast play...the guy just went for it...

oh well...really...i was in a daze watching this series...and hockey is just a sport...i'm finding i'd rather play in it lately than watch!

still think it's the best sport...fast, hard, skilled, passion, heart...

it's hilarious...people are so into though...me as well...all the call ins on the radio show we're already looking to chop heads. Alot of people questioning the lineup seletcions. Ie. defensive pairings and why Alfie wasn't playing with heatley and spezza.

but....having played hockey as a kid...i remember one year we won the championship...there were teams that were better than us for sure....but we were crazy...passion was high...it was like we were fighting for our lives...no one ever gave up or let up...and we won...........that's what i seem to remember anyways....

never give up...don't be denied...go to bed knowing you did your best....if you do that....you're set up better for success....perhaps that IS success...

chop? final thoughts???

I like your story, it proves super stars will never win you a cup. poeple always count on them to make it all happen, and they dont feel the pressure to perform..or like they can make the difference. Sens need to learn the pain and sacrifice to win a cup, the guys we have now dont have a clue. now I am only giving them shit because they are professional athletes and their job is to perform. If this was a bunch of kids i would say, good effort, you tried your best and thats all that matterhs..when it comes to a bunch of guys wo make hundreds of thousands of dollars, they better at least try ...and not once in a while , all the frakin time

i feel alfie (leader) was lost...or was he injured??

who knows...it's over...

i agree with all of our points...

someone's gotta win...someone's gotta lose...

I say let's go crazy...make Fisher captain. He exemplifies everything we're talking about. Desire. Passion. Longing. Sigh...those blue eyes...er, I mean...Passion for the game.

I once read something like 'People bend to the one with the will.' i.e. If you have the strongest will, there's a force like gravity that makes people bend to your desire. You know what it looks like? Like Buffalo in this series. They didn't have the same skill level, but the had THE WILL, and they won.

not sure about Fisher being captain...i think he's more the silent hard working type...

somebody mentioned phillips...maybe smolinski??

I think we need a captain that has been to the Stanley Cup, trade for someboy good, think people think, who can we trade for? Put on your GM hat and have an opinion.

I like it, we need a Goalie, somebody with experience, and playoff performance.
